1951

Where it all began: 1 de Janeiro de 1951

Construction of the Store

João and Horácio Fonseca initiate their commercial activity with a small shop in Dombe Grande, near Benguela. The shop was a mix between chandlery and a grocery, and the clients were mostly workers from sugar factory was based in Dombe Grande.

1956

Expansion to Benguela: 1 de Janeiro de 1956

Inside the Store

The firm was growing up and moved to the city of Benguela, initiating a wholesale business, this activity is still a current and very important activity to Fonseca & Irmão S.A.R.L.

1970

Entry into the business of maize milling: 1 de Janeiro de 1970

Partners decide to entry into the maize milling business, and acquire “Sociedade de Moagem Lda” to stockholders. This factory was expanded and improved and even today is still operational.

1990

New commercial surface in the heart of Benguela: 1 de Janeiro de 1990

We open a new commercial surface with an 3000m2 area, specialized in wholesale trading, right in the heart of our city.

2012

Entering in a retail commerce: 1 de Janeiro de 2012

We increased our facilities in 1000m2 covered area, with the aim of entering in a retail trading, replying this way to the challenge our customers propose us.
